Shari Alexander
HIseville Elementary Principal

Welcome to Hiseville Elementary, a 4 Star Elementary, where only the best is good enough!  We are looking forward to the best school year yet in 21-22!  Last school year was certainly unique.  June 11th, KDE ended the Healthy at Schools Guidance for schools, so we will no longer have to wear masks and practice social distancing.  I want to ensure all families that we will still do our best to keep our Cardinals, "Healthy at Hiseville".

Last summer we learned that Hiseville Elementary was one of three Kentucky schools that were awarded a $100,000 fitness center by the National Foundation for the Governors' Fitness Council.  While Covid-19 might have delayed things a bit,  we are now fully operational in our state of the art fitness center.  This is a wonderful opportunity for our students and eventually our community! This fitness center couldn't have come at a better time for our students!

Our philosophy at Hiseville Elementary is to educate all children for the maximum development of their potential. We believe in the development of each child, regardless of abilities, past experience, race, sex, origin, social or economic status.  All children should be given an opportunity to develop, to the greatest possible extent, their capacities for happy, useful and successful lives. Citizenship is a key focus at our school. Each morning we gather together as a school and the students lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance, our CARDS Guidelines and our Self-Esteem Pledge.

At Hiseville Elementary we believe the instructional program is the basic foundation of our school, and the instructional program should assure each student access to those basic academic skills and knowledge appropriate to each child's needs. We utilize only research based programs with proven success to educate your children.  Instruction is differentiated and individualized to give our children the best educational experience possible. We believe that science, social studies and the arts are as important as reading and math to your child's educational experience. Literacy is embedded throughout the content areas.  We believe this to be one of the main reasons our reading and writing scores continue to be well above the state average.

At Hiseville, we strive for complete cooperation, clear communication, and mutual respect among the members of the board of education, SBDM members, the administrators, the teachers, the parents, the students and the community.  This year, that relationship will be more important than ever.  We look forward to reconnecting with our Cardinal families as we return to normalcy!

We believe that the American educational system must be the most forceful institution in contributing to a democracy and we pledge to fulfill our role in that process so your children can be productive, informed citizens regardless of the times we find ourselves in.
